Welcome to this week's Know Your Neighbours
REMEMBER TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK THIS WEEKEND - (Just saying)
So - it is that time again for Trick or Treating. Please remember, whilst we are having fun with our families, not everybody is able or willing, to rush to their doors in the dark, so please look for signs that you might be welcome before knocking randomly.
ALL SOULS SERVICE 6.30pm Sunday Seal Church
As we head towards All Souls, please remember you can join us at Seal Church for a quiet prayerful service at 6.30 on Sunday 30th, to remember those loved ones, no longer with us. This is a lovely reflective service, and Anne has a list at the back of the church, for you to add the names of those you wish to be remembered. This will have to be done today if possible please, or email Anne sealpandp@gmail.com
KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOURS MEET AND GREET OCT 22nd
Thank you to all of you who turned out for the Meet and Greet session last Saturday, especially those of you who helped set up, served teas, represented their
We collected your views about lighting the village this year, along with the survey sent out to High Street residents. We received a reasonable response, and I'd like to thank Angie Hall for helping me to collate and make sense of these. As most of you know, admin is not a favourite job for me, so I really appreciate this input.
Overall, it would seem that the vast majority, certainly want to ensure we are lighting the High Street in a responsible manner, but it's a resounding 'YES', to installing the icicles as well as the battery lights in strategic places.
Based on your comments, the decision we have made, is to hang the lights as usual, but only have them lit 3 hours daily rather than 6 and from December 10th to January 5th, and take them down on Saturday January 7th, when we will celebrate with a family post-Christmas party, rather than the party we normally hold on the first weekend in December.
Last year, we had a poorer attendance at the party than normal, and many people felt that trying to pack too much in before the big day, is tricky. Of course, it does mean carol singing may have to take place in a different way, but we can work on that one!
We will need people to come forward to help us orgainse the party please. I do have a short list and will be contacting those of you who have already offered to help where they can.
SEAL COMMUNITY LUNCH IS BACK
A free lunch of homemade soup, bread and a hot pudding will be served at Seal Church Hall at 1pm on Wednesday November 16th. Arrive any time after 12.30pm. Join the team for a warm welcome and meet friends.
CAN YOU USE SOME EGG BOXES?
I have been asked if anybody in the village, keeps hens and can use some egg boxes. Please contact me if you can make use of these.
ANOTHER LOCAL REQUEST
I have been contacted to see if there is anybody in Seal who runs a Bed and Breakfast, who may have vacancies over the Christmas Holiday. I am unaware of any such businesses now, though I know there were several at one time in the village. Failing a B and B, does anybody have a property they would be willing to let over the period. If you know anybody, please contact me, and I'll put you in touch.
OPEN MORNING AT FRIDAY GROUP NOVEMBER 25th.
Are you concerned about your energy bills this winter? I'm sure this is a huge concern for us all, so the Citizens Advice Bureau
are going to visit Friday Group on Friday 25th November, and deliver a Big Energy Saving Project workshop to explore ways
of keeping our costs as low as possible. This session will start a little earlier than usual, at 9.30, to fit in a fun packed morning of information and activities.
This is then being followed by an origami workshop, delivered by our own Nicole from Nim's in the High Street.
This will give us the opportunity to make some origami Christmas decorations, so another money saving project and possibly
a chance to learn a new skill!
Everybody is welcome to this open morning, and we look forward to meeting you at the Church Hall for coffee, tea, refreshments
and learning. What more could we ask for?
The session will start earlier on Friday 25th, so watch this space for more information.
