A blog for the "Know Your Neighbours" group. Connecting people in Seal, near Sevenoaks in Kent.
What is "Know Your Neighbours"?
"Know Your Neighbours" is a grass-roots community group in Seal, near Sevenoaks in Kent. The group is made up of anyone in the village who wants to get involved - individuals, clubs and societies, businesses, church and schools, parish council, and many others.
We organise local events through the year - fetes, street parties, Christmas events etc. - and we hold social gatherings, just so that people can get to "know their neighbours". There's no "committee" - anyone who turns up for meetings is welcome to help in any way they are able.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE, OR BE ADDED TO THE EMAIL LIST, contact Marion Gilchrist , who coordinates the group, or Anne Le Bas, who maintains this blog.
This Blog will be archived from July 7 2024 following the retirement of Rev Anne Le Bas who has maintained it. Know Your Neighbours will continue however. Please email Marion if you would like to know more!

have also been a few outings to local places of interest, and the coast during
the summer. All adults are welcome ( we would love to include children, but
simply do not have the space), male, female, young, and not so young. Please
let us know if you need more information, or just turn up any Friday morning!
Also, should you be aware of anybody who has recently moved
into the village, and may be interested in joining this email circular

Friday Group - a great start
We
had a good start to our new Friday Group (we might think of a better
name for it one day!). About a dozen people came, enjoyed coffee, cake
and a natter.
![]() |
We mended the village bunting so it would look good for the Queen's 90th Birthday Street Party on Sat June 11 (put the date in your diaries!). |
Next
week, some of the group are going to teach us some card games to play,
and we're going to do some knitting - it doesn't matter what previous
knowledge and experience you have; the whole point is to have some fun
learning together.
This
group is for all adults- not just those who are retired. If you are at
home on Friday mornings and would like to come along to get to know
others in Seal, just drop in. It is free, but there will be a pot for
donations to cover refreshments and heating.

Friday Group
FRIDAY
GROUP **New**A new group is starting on Friday April 1, and every Friday after
that. 10 am – 12
noon
in the church hall. Come along and join us for coffee and chat, crafts, board games. We
will be undertaking some activities to support charities and local organisation
too – on this first occasion we’ll be sprucing up the village bunting so that
it is ready for the Queen’s 90th Birthday Street Party on June 11.
After
that what we do will depend on who comes, so it’s up to you!
It
is open to adults of any age, but I’m afraid we can’t cater for children at
this group.
A
joint project of Seal Church and Seal Know Your Neighbours group.
