A blog for the "Know Your Neighbours" group. Connecting people in Seal, near Sevenoaks in Kent.
What is "Know Your Neighbours"?
"Know Your Neighbours" is a grass-roots community group in Seal, near Sevenoaks in Kent. The group is made up of anyone in the village who wants to get involved - individuals, clubs and societies, businesses, church and schools, parish council, and many others.
We organise local events through the year - fetes, street parties, Christmas events etc. - and we hold social gatherings, just so that people can get to "know their neighbours". There's no "committee" - anyone who turns up for meetings is welcome to help in any way they are able.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE, OR BE ADDED TO THE EMAIL LIST, contact Marion Gilchrist , who coordinates the group, or Anne Le Bas, who maintains this blog.
This Blog will be archived from July 7 2024 following the retirement of Rev Anne Le Bas who has maintained it. Know Your Neighbours will continue however. Please email Marion if you would like to know more!

Tile signing
If you missed your chance to sign a tile for Seal Church's roof appeal on Saturday at the fete, don't despair. They will be available for signing in Seal Library, in the High Street (TN15 0AL) tomorrow (Sat 28th, from 10.30 to 1.30pm). Make yourself history as "your" tile is put on the organ loft roof - who knows who will one day read your name next time the roof is repaired! £5 per tile.

Seal Fete: A roaring success
All the hard work was worth it. The fete was buzzing with people, the rain held off (the sun even shone now and then), and everyone had fun.
Here are a few pictures to give a flavour of what went on.
Many thanks to all who helped.

One week to go!
We've just put up miles of bunting (it felt like it anyway!) on Seal Recreation Ground, and got very damp in the process. It's just one week to SEAL VILLAGE FETE...
There will be Morgan Cars, Belly Dancing (at 1 pm), Climbing wall, delicious cakes and tea in the pavilion, bbq, hog roast, fairground rides, lots of stalls from local organisations and businesses, (and the weather forecast looks a lot better than this Saturday!)
All we need is you...!
Please put the date in your diary, tell your friends, repost this, and turn up from 12 noon to 4pm to join in the fun.

Fete Planning Meeting Thurs 5 Sept
There will be a fete planning meeting on Thursday 5th September at 7.30 in the
Church Hall. All are welcome to come along and add their talents and skills to
the bank of people we already have. As you will be aware, the fete takes place
on Saturday 21st from 12 noon until 4.30pm. We still need volunteers to assist
with setting up, clearing away, and manning a few stalls.
We are also looking for more donations of cakes and tray-bakes, wine, tombola prizes and donations for the silent auction. Please do not be shy! If you have any contacts, please ask/beg for donations, and drop me an e mail or come along on Thursday (or both!)
The programme looks good, but we do still need some extra pairs of hands to help out.
Look forward to seeing a good throng on Thursday - only 2 more meetings after this one!
Marion.
